7 Ways to Maximize Your Planners with Teachery

Hi, Michelle here! My passive income journey started with a $3 sale of a printable planner on Etsy. Over time, I figured out how to grow beyond Etsy - and take those customers with me - and sell over a million dollars in passive income products by using a platform called Teachery.

Below, you can see specific examples for how to make the most of Teachery if you make and sell planners or journals in your business.

Remember, you are so much more than just your planner - the planner is just the first step in the evolution of you sharing what lights you up and attracting your own community of true fans.

Example 1

Give your Etsy customers an exclusive bonus hub with purchase (and add them to your email list!)

This was actually the FIRST way that I started using Teachery years ago and it helped my expand my business beyond Etsy. In the beginning, all of my customers were Etsy customers, but I had one big problem - I needed a way to bring those customers on to my own email list and introduce them to what I was all about.

My solution was to create a “Customer Hub” specifically for my Etsy customers that they got access to as a bonus with their purchase. By accessing this bonus, they were also agreeing to join my email newsletter. This is a strategy that I still use to this day in order to turn my Etsy customers into lifelong fans and repeat customers of more products.

When someone buys your $10, $20, $30 planner or journal on Etsy, you need to be thinking about how you can stay in touch with them so that over time, you can introduce them to more offerings. That person who spent $10 in your Etsy shop could potentially spend $1000 with you over time if you stay in touch.

Example 2

Sell all your planners and journals together as a bundle for a special price

This type of offer allows you to open the door to increasing your revenue without having to create any additional products. Simply bundle your existing products together and price it in such a way that the customer sees how they would save money by buying the bundle instead of buying each product individually.

The beauty of using Teachery for this:

Technically, you can bundle your planners and journals by uploading them into a folder in Google Drive or Dropbox and then provide the link to your customers. However, by creating a beautiful hub in Teachery for all of your PDFs, you’re able to raise the perceived value of the bundle and provide a better user experience for your customer.

Example 3

Create an elevated experience around your free planner or free journal.

If you have a free planner that you give away to either grow your email list and/or add value to your current subscribers, you can use Teachery to pull together any additional resources that would complement the experience of people using your freebie.

The beauty of using Teachery for this:

By elevating the experience of your freebie by giving it its own hub in Teachery, you’re able to increase your freebie’s “WOW factor.” Practically every single online business owner is giving away freebies, so this is a great way to make yours stand out and add more of your personality. I also recommend adding the thing you’re selling right inside the hub too.

Example 4

If you have a free digital journal, you can create a free companion hub (and promote other offerings).

The beauty of creating digital journals and planners is that you’re able to give people a clickable link right inside the PDF. Typically, people just give a link to their website, but by creating a special hub in Teachery, you’re able to design a space that feels more custom and intimate for the planner or journal itself.

In the case of creating a hub for a 30 day journal, you can literally place a special hyperlink in each “day” of the 30 day journal to link the person using your journal to the corresponding “day” in your hub. This adds a whole new dimension to the experience of using your journal - it brings it to life even more. And it gives you the opportunity to showcase your other offerings inside your hub as well.

Example 5

Package your planners/Journals together as a bonus or “bump offer.”

Examples:

  • BUMP OFFER EXAMPLE: When people are buying a product from you, you can offer a “bump offer” in the check out process (Teachery’s payment pages let you do this). For example, let’s say you’re selling a course called “Habit Mastery” for $50 and you have a bump offer for your “Vault of Habit Trackers” for $20. Over time, if 100 people add that bump offer to their order, you’ve increased your revenue by $2000 - just by bundling together PDFs you’ve already created.

  • PAY IN FULL EXAMPLE: If you’re selling something that has a higher price point or a long payment plan, you can gift people a vault of your best planners/journals when they pay in full or after they complete their payment plans. This strategy helps increase the number of people who choose the “pay in full” option and decrease the number of people who fail their payment plans.

  • AFFILIATE BONUS EXAMPLE: A powerful way to incentivize people to buy a product through your affiliate link is to offer them a bonus if they do so. By bundling your planners and journals into it’s own offering, you now have an attractive affiliate bonus that you can keep tweaking and improving over time for better and better conversions.

Example 6

Give your extra special, favorite planner its own hub to raise the value and experience.

If you have a planner or journal that you particularly love, give it some extra attention by selling it as part of a hub! For example, maybe you’ve made a 90 day fitness planner and you absolutely love all things health and fitness. Instead of just selling the planner by itself, you can build an additional resources inside a hub or course on Teachery. These resources can include things such as your favorite workout videos, additional worksheets, links to helpful articles and podcasts … even your own affiliate links to health products and workout gear you recommend.

I also recommend linking your hub from right inside your planner so that every time your customer opens their planner, they’ll be reminded to check out the hub - a hub that you can always tweak and improve. The magic is in the tweaking.

Example 7

Create a course-like experience around your journal.

My favorite example for this is a program I co-created with Aimee Johanan called “Release and Reclaim”. Together, Aimee and I created a 30 day journal and then we made a hub in Teachery with supporting content to go along with each day of the journal.

Sometimes the content was an inspiring video from YouTube, and sometimes it was a behind the scenes video from our own life. This program became a favorite with our customers and it was so fun to create and showed me how powerful it is to use Teachery to create a deeper experience around 30 day journals.
