Behind the Scenes of My Business: Questions From This Month's Tea Party

You’re getting a taste of our Tea Parties

Every month in Say Yes to Desire, we get on a call and let the conversation go wherever it needs to go. Here’s what came up on our September 2026 call.

In this post:

  • How do you know if your Pinterest ads are working?

  • How do you set up a Pinterest ad?

  • What's the fastest way to grow an email list?

  • How do you make your podcast so easy?

  • Do you use special prompts to build your tools with Claude?

  • What does a day in the life look like for you?

  • If you started from zero, how would you make $1,000 a month?

Marketing

How do you know if your Pinterest ads are working?

A member asked how I track my ads.

I built a simple tracker that shows me in one glance whether the ads pay for themselves.

I made myself a little Pinterest Ad Studio in Claude. I knew that if checking the numbers felt clunky, I would stop running the ads. It shows my sales, my ad spend, and notes on each change I make.

Right now, for every dollar I put into ads, I get about $2.30 back. But the real win is not the money from one sale. It's the new customers. A $27 product is an easy place for someone to start. Then they stay on my email list, they see the quality of my work, and they want the next thing.

How do you set up a Pinterest ad?

A member asked if I warm people up before showing them an ad.

I put money behind a pin that was already working on its own.

My first ad used a brand new pin, and it got no results after a week. So I looked at which pin was already sending people to my website. It was a plain screenshot of the Sacred Pause. That's the pin I promoted.

What's the fastest way to grow an email list?

A member who is just getting her offers out asked this one.

Grow your list with customers, not people who only wanted a freebie.

The fastest way is to give away something so good people would pay for it. But I chose a slower path years ago. If I cleaned out my list today, it would be around 7,000 people. That small list makes six figures a year.

My real advice is to ask yourself one question every day. What will I do today to grow my business? The answer is your assignment. Every answer is an experiment. When you look at someone else's business, don't copy what they do. Look at how they think.

How do you make your podcast so easy?

Have an idea. Press record. Say it. Press publish.

I made the Easy Peasy Podcast Studio for myself first. It also turns your episode into a YouTube video and graphics with one click. I used to fiddle with all of that in Canva. Now I don't have to, and neither do you.

The Easy Peasy Podcast Studio is only for Say Yes to Desire members. If you've been wanting to start a podcast, this is the easy way. Join Say Yes to Desire

Do you use special prompts to build your tools with Claude?

A member asked if I use special prompts in Claude.

The first tools I made took a long time. Now I reuse what I've already made.

My first tools I made in Claude took hundreds of hours. I loved every second. But now I have a library of my own designs. When I build something new, I give Claude a tool I already made and say "make it look like this, but do this instead." The beginning was slow. Now it's fast.

Running Your Business

What does a day in the life look like for you?

A member asked what I start with and how long I work.

I do my non-negotiables, check in with my sales, and let intuition lead the rest.

My Sacred System in Notion tells me what my non-negotiables are. This call is one. Choosing what to promote each month is another. So is my weekly podcast.

Every day I write down the sales that came in by hand. I keep this manual on purpose. It keeps me close to the real people buying my products. I also post on my YouTube community page every day, so I never make things in a bubble without talking about them.

I have simplified everything so I can still do it on my worst energy day. After that, I follow what feels fun. That's how I can finish a week of work in two hours.

If you started from zero, how would you make $1,000 a month?

A member asked for my first three to five steps.

I would get coaching clients, and I would make a $20 product for people not ready for a call.

I would start a YouTube channel and invite people to book a call in every video. At $150 a call, I only need about seven people a month. Notice how the question changed. I'm not asking how to make $1,000. I'm asking how to find seven clients.

This is still how I run my business today. Every month I ask what I'm promoting and how I will do it. There is no point in business where you can coast forever. Every month is a new adventure.
